Can I talk to you before setting an appointment if I have more questions?

Absolutely! I offer a free 20-minute consultation to see if we are a good fit to work together.

Who benefits from therapy?

Life is hard! Things happen. Stress takes its toll. It’ easy to feel overwhelmed.

But everyone can benefit from therapy. Therapy helps you sort through the difficult emotions, thoughts and experiences.

Do you need a space to be heard and understood without judgment?

Or maybe you’re seeking clarity, peace of mind and direction.

Whatever the reason, you can really benefit from therapy.

How many sessions do I need?

Everybody is different. It all depends on what you’re dealing with and what kind of change you want to see for yourself. Some require only a few sessions; others come for years. We’ll explore your needs in your sessions.

How long will my therapy sessions last?

The initial assessment is typically an hour.

Follow up individual sessions and family therapy are also typically 60 minutes long.

What can I expect at my first session?

We’ll talk about why you picked up the phone and made this call.

This is the best opportunity for you to start finding joy… you just don’t know it yet.

But I know it; I’ll help you believe it and live it.

Why therapy when I can just talk to my family and friends?

Talking to friends is great. You need a strong circle of support.

But when you come in for therapy, this is your “safe space.”

Where you can feel comfortable talking about all the things that matter.

Where, together, we can work on how to change them for the better.

What if I want to work with you, but you don’t take my insurance?

I currently accept Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) on an in-network basis and all other insurances on an out-of-network basis.

If you have BCBS insurance, please bring a copy of your insurance card, as well as cash or check for your co-pay or co-insurance, to your first appointment (you can contact BCBS and ask them about your coverage for an in-network office mental health visit).

If you choose to use your out-of-network insurance, you will be responsible for the full fee at the time of service. Then, the insurance company will reimburse you directly for an established percentage of the fee.

I can provide you with what we call a super bill. Most insurance companies will reimburse you for what they call out-of-network.

What are your rates?

Initial Assessment: $140
Individual Session: $130
Family session: $130

What forms of payment do you accept?

I accept all major credit cards, checks, and cash; however, I require credit card information from every client regardless of your method of payment.

After the completed session, my practice management system can auto-bill either the full session amount or the co-payment. This proven method allows us to focus on the important work of therapy and deal with the payment processing only once.

What is your cancellation policy?

Like most therapists, I require 24-hour notice for cancellation.

If, for some reason, you are unable to attend the session without cancelling or cancel late, your card will be charged for the full amount of the session.

What are your areas of specialty?

I work with people struggling with anxiety, depression, eating disorders, poor body image, low self-esteem, transitional/adjustment issues, relationship difficulties, parenting issues and stress management.

How would you describe yourself as a therapist?

Experienced, knowledgeable, solution-focused, non-judgmental, warm, and caring.

My approach is highly relational because I know our work together rests on the foundation of a strong therapeutic relationship.

What’s your approach?

I always strive to meet you where you are in your struggles and goals for therapy.

Our work together depends on a trusting and solid working relationship. I’ll provide you with support, guidance, problem-solving and skill-building.

I’ll also challenge those negative thoughts and beliefs that have been holding you back and keeping you stuck in a place that doesn’t work for you anymore.

Our work will help you to make the changes you need and want in your life right now.

Do I have to lie on a couch?

So, sure, if you’d like! You can even take your shoes off. Adjust the pillows.

Your comfort is most important.

Have you been in therapy yourself?

Yes, I know what it’s like to sit on the couch, too.

My experience has made me a better person and a better therapist.

There is no shame in taking care of your mental health.
